Brad Thompson

Director of  Economic & Community Development

Brad Thompson is a State of Tennessee certified Economic Development specialist who currently works with the City of Martin as the Director of Economic and Community Development.

Brad believes that being involved in the community and accessibility are two of the most important aspects of his job responsibilities. He is a graduate of the Delta Leadership Institute, WestStar Leadership Program, and Leadership Weakley County. He currently serves as a member of the West Tennessee Drug Court Steering Committee, and serves as a board member to Hope of Martin, St. John’s Community Services, Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center, Tennessee Soybean Festival, and Martin Business Association, in addition to being an ex-officio member of the Martin Industrial Board and Martin Beautiful organizations. He is also a member of the Martin Rotary Club and serves as the Tennessee State Chairman and National Co-Chair to the Delta Leadership Network.

Brad earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business from the University of Tennessee at Martin and his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Murray State University. He has also received professional education through the Harvard Kennedy School of Executive Education.

Communities grow stronger when citizens are consistently engaged to do things together connecting them with others. If we can continue to do just that here in Martin, we will have growth in retail, industry, and population–as well as UT Martin.
