Residential Trash Pick Up Regulations

The City of Martin provides FREE residential curbside trash pick up to City of Martin residents only when in compliance with the following regulations.
  1. Residential yard waste, building material or other waste from remodeling and repair will be picked up. Avoid putting waste in the street.
  2. No material from new houses under construction or lots being cleared for new construction will be picked up by the city. This debris can be taken to the landfill and a disposal fee will be charged.
  3. Brush, hedges, weeds or branches from tree pruning will be picked up when resident complies with the following:
    1.  Placed on right of way next to the curb. Avoid putting in the street.
    2.  Brush and limbs should be placed at the curb before 7:00 am to be picked up on your regular pick up day. This pick up may run behind during the peak seasons and after storms.
    3.  In bundles, boxes or bagged. (Will not be picked up if placed in cans or trailers.)
    4.  Must be cut to lengths of 4-6 feet or less.
    5.  No boxes containing Styrofoam.
    6. Brush should not be placed on sidewalks, in drainage ditches or over storm grates, next to utility poles, mail boxes or fire hydrants.
    7.  Brush must be placed no further back from the street than 13 feet.
  4. Trees or limbs 18 inches or more in diameter must be removed by the individual or property owner.
  5. Leaves will be removed by vacuum machines during the fall months. ( Beginning date for leaf pick up by machines will be advertised in the local newspaper and also when this service will end.) Leaf machines will cover the city and then start over. All other months, trash such as leaves, pine needles, yard rakings must be bagged or boxed before they will be removed. Loose leaves are not to be placed on the sidewalk, in drainage ditches or over storm grates.
  6. The City of Martin picks up material such as TV's and metal on Friday of each week. Residents should call the public works office (731) 587-4910 to schedule pick up of items of this nature.
  7. The City of Martin picks up appliances such as stoves, washers, dryers and refrigerators on Friday of each week. Residents should call the public works office (731) 587-4910 to schedule pick up of items of this nature.
  8. The City of Martin picks up wood furniture, mattresses, etc. on the same day as your brush schedule.
  9. The City of Martin does not pick up tires, car batteries, or paint and we do not accept these items in our landfill.
  10. The City of Martin landfill is open Monday thru Friday during regular Public Works Department business hours (hours are posted at the landfill ).
    The City of Martin landfill is also open on Saturday from 8:00 am to 11:45 am except holidays.
     
  11. Reminder: The City of Martin landfill is for use by City of Martin residents only and nothing from outside the city limits will be accepted.
