The Martin Planning Commission meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:15 pm at Martin City Hall. The planning commission helps guide growth and development and reviews land-use applications. They serve as an advisory group to city council on zoning, development projects, and land-use policies. Meeting agenda requests must be submitted to Martin City Hall by the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The City of Martin Public Works Committee meets on the 1st Monday of each month. Meeting are scheduled as needed. These meetings are held at Martin City Hall at 5:15pm.  Committee Responsibilities This committee originated by appointment from Board of Mayor and Aldermen, 1997; any recommendations from this committee will be presented to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for approval. This committee discusses all Public Works matters related to the city. Powers include approving projects to send to City Board for consideration and advising the Mayor and Public Works Director.

Informal Board Meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of each month followed by the 1st Monday. Formal Board Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month. All meetings are open to the public. Meeting agendas can be found posted on the city website homepage under Public Notices 10 days prior to the meeting date. Responsibilities The Historic Zoning Commission was created by the motion of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, October 13, 1986. Terms set for five (5) years; staggered terms as set by By-laws; Reviews any requests for Martin’s Historic District. Before any exterior work visible from the roadway is done on any structure, a Certificate of Appropriateness is required. Meetings Meets the third (3rd) Tuesday of each month or  as needed.
