The 2024 Martin Beautiful Garden Seminar is Saturday, April 6th. 

Martin Beautiful presents the Annual Garden Seminar at the Martin Event Center on Saturday, April 6 from 8:30AM to 10:30AM located at the Martin Public Library on 89 Central St., Martin, TN.  Plant sales will be open outside starting at 8am – 12 noon. 

The opening session and guest speaker, Celeste Scott, Extension Horticulture Specialist in West TN, will give a presentation titled “Stewardship in Home Landscapes: An Introduction to the TN Smart Yards Program”. The TN Smart Yards education program teaches stewardship principles and practical actions for gardeners who wish to promote sustainability and stewardship that starts at home.  Attendees will learn about the 9 stewardship principles of TN Smart Yards, interact with hands-on activities, and discover new educational resources.In the panel discussion that follows, participants will have the opportunity to pose questions to Celeste and our local experts:

In addition, free supplies from the Weakley County Litter Grant will be available for ALL residents of the City of Martin to keep Martin Beautiful by participating in a community-wide trash pick-up. We are encouraging all residents to take part in creating a beautiful Martin starting at this event and during the month of April.Seats are limited for this educational opportunity. The first 40 attendees will receive a goody bag and all attendees will be entered for door prize drawings with gifts from local vendors. For more information, call 731-587-3126.

About Celeste Scott

Celeste is a native West Tennessean raised on a production row crop and beef cattle farm. Her passion for plants began early in life collecting plants from friends and family, working at local garden centers and managing a vegetable truck crop patch. Celeste attended Middle TN State University for her undergraduate degree in Plant & Soil Science, and attained her Master’s degree from the University of TN Martin in Agriculture & Natural Resources.  Her career in agriculture began with TN Farmers Co-operative followed by service with UT Extension as a County Agent.  Celeste is now the UT Extension Horticulture Specialist in West TN. She is married, has 2 young children, and spends her free time with soil under her nails.

Location/Parking: This event is located inside the Martin Event Center which is located inside the City of Martin Public Library. Attendees can enter through the Central Street doors of the building and parking is available throughout downtown Martin.
