February 14, 2025 – MARTIN, TENN.: The City of Martin, in partnership with Town & Gown, the University of Tennessee at Martin, and the UT Martin Black Student Association, invites the community to the Voices from the Past: Martin Black History Awards Luncheon on Friday, February 21, at noon at the Martin Event Center inside the City of Martin Public Library (89 Central Street, Martin, TN).
This event will reflect on Black history and honor those who have paved the way for future generations in the Martin community. Attendees will hear from Marchell Gardner, who will share how key mentors from her past helped shape her career. City of Martin Mayor Randy Brundige and UT Martin Chancellor Yancy Freeman will also provide updates and insights on the community.
Following the speaker, awards will be presented, including the Alpha Award, the Harold Conner Award, and the Torch Award.
Lunch will begin at 11:45 AM, and pre-registration is required via Eventbrite. Tickets are available for $12 and will include a sandwich, soup, and cookie from Vantage Coffee Roasters.
